Frantisek Zelenka, a noted architect, artist, and theatre designer in Czechoslovakia, an internee in the Terezin (Theresienstadt) ghetto.
Zelenka was born on June 8, 1904, in Bohemia. In 1926 he began designing posters for the National Theatre in Prague (Praha), and later became one of the most prominent set designers in Czechoslovakia. Frantisek Zelenka, a noted architect, artist, and theatre designer in Czechoslovakia, an internee in the Terezin (Theresienstadt) ghetto.
Zelenka was born on June 8, 1904, in Bohemia. In 1926 he began designing posters for the National Theatre in Prague (Praha), and later became one of the most prominent set designers in Czechoslovakia. In 1943 he was deported with his wife and son to the Terezin ghetto, where he became involved in organizing theatrical productions. He and his family members were sent on a transport to the Auschwitz - Birkenau camp on Oct. 19, 1944, where they were murdered. Close
