Supplies of bread for members of the "Ichud" Zionist pioneering training program (hachshara) in Picciola. The bread, taken from the British army camp's kitchen, was given to the hachshara members by Jewish soldiers from Mandate Palestine, stationed at Picciola. In the photo:

1) Elchanan Segalson, born on June 16, 1929, was inducted into the Israel Defense Forces and fell in the War of Independence on June 11, 1948.
2) In the hachshara at Picciola were young Holocaust survivors, several of whom were relatives of soldiers from Mandate Palestine serving in the British army, plus other young Jews who were "adopted" by these soldiers. The soldiers, in the RAOC units 514 and 555, took care of their charges' needs, including clothing (for example, articles of military uniforms). Close
