A classroom in the Amstau DP camp.
Amstau was one of the camps in which the British interned the illegal immigrants to Palestine from the ship "Exodus" who had been deported back to Germany. Identified: David Hatkevitz (center).
Note: the illegal immigration ship "Exodus" (Hebrew name: "Flight from Europe 5707" - the year 1947) was apprehended by British forces as it reached Palestine. Following a battle on deck, the refugees were forcibly shipped back to France, then Germany.
