Aizik - Adolphe Feder was born on July 16, 1887, to a Jewish mercantile family in Odessa. In 1905, he joined the Bund. Persecuted for his activities, he fled to Berlin. He studied art there and in Geneva (Geneve) during the years 1908 - 1909. In 1910 he went to study in Paris, where he was among the artists of the Ecole de Paris (Paris School). The landscapes of the South of France became the focus of much of his painting, and he also worked as a book illustrator. In 1926, Feder visited Mandate Palestine, whose figures and scenes provided subjects for his artworks.

Upon the Nazi occupation of France, Feder refused to leave Paris and became active in the underground. He was arrested on June 10, 1942, and in September of that year was interned in the Drancy detention camp. On February 13, 1943, he was sent on a transport to the Auschwitz camp, where he perished.
