The charred corpses of inmates beside the barbed wire fence of a camp near Leipzig.
Apparently photographed in the Thekla camp, a subcamp of Buchenwald, where on April 18, 1945, some 300 inmates were shut into Barracks No. 5 and the building torched by SS personnel. Inmates who attempted to escape were shot to death. In all some 100 inmates perished in this incident.
