A decree issued to the Jews of Salonika ordering them to wear a Jewish badge and to move into ghettos. In German. Dated Feb. 6, 1943, from the Military Administration Department for the Agaeis - Salonika region. The text is as follows:
Subject: Marking and resettlement of the Jews in Salonika.
1) Marking is required of every Jew, their homes, their businesses, their offices, etc. excepting those of foreign nationality and holding the corresponding passport.
2) Every Jew in Salonika must enter the special quarter, excepting those noted above.
3) The Jews themselves must bear the expenses. The community must vouch [i.e. pay] for those who are unable to do so.
4) Performance of these procedures is in the hands of the SD (Sicherheitsdienst; Security Service) for the Salonika region. Performance must be completed by Feb. 25, 1943.
